How can I know if I intall the protective door locks correctly?

Car door locks act as anti-theft protection for your car. They make your car safe and make you feel safe. Due to car door locks, you leave your car on a parking lot with valuables inside for hours or even days without worrying for their missing. In addition, you can focus on driving with your children at the back seats since you no longer have to keep an eye on their action knowing that they wouldn’t open the door and fall out into the road.

Review the repair manual for your car, noting any warnings with respect to electrical components including airbags, brakes, on-board computers, and batteries. Keep the repair manual handy so you can refer to it if needed as you work through this project.
Doing away with preliminaries such as disconnecting some parts of the car
Before you can install locks in your car door, preliminaries have to be done, including removing some parts of the car so that the lock can be put in place. You should first remove the panel from the inside of the car door by sliding a flat-head screwdriver between the panel and the door frame and prying it free. After that, locate the power lock mechanism and remove the retaining bolts with an adjustable wrench.
Disconnecting and reconnecting wires of the door lock
After you have removed the retaining bolts, disconnect all wires from the lock mechanism using wire cutters and then remove the lock assembly from the door. Next, you have to feed the negative parking light wire through the door and trace the existing negative parking light wire to the back of the light switch. Covering the exposed wire with electrical tape should be done next. After doing so, connect the opposite end of the negative parking light wire to the correct mount on the new power lock assembly.
Setting up the ground wire
Run the ground wire to the location on your car as stated by the door lock manufacturer. After doing so, connect the opposite end of the ground wire to the appropriate mount on the new power lock assembly.
Setting up the ignition wire
Locate the ignition wires in your car and find one with +12 volts by testing the voltage of the wires using a voltmeter. After that, connect the ignition wire to the appropriate mount on the new power lock assembly.
Setting up the system-chassis ground wire
Run the system-chassis ground wire through the door and trace the existing chassis ground wire to the engine block, under the hood of the car. After doing so, connect the opposite end of the chassis ground wire to the appropriate mount on the new power lock assembly.
Setting up the power input wire
Run the +12 volt power input wire through the door, into the dash panel, through the back of the dash panel into the engine block, and then connect the opposite end of the power input wire to the appropriate mount.
Testing the new power lock
Press the “Lock” and “Unlock” buttons to verify that the lock on the door works in tandem with the switches on the power lock; recheck your wiring and repeat the process to make sure all the wires are properly connected if it fails to do so.
Remounting the bolts
Insert the mounting bolts into corresponding slots. Proceed to assembling the unit by tightening the retaining nuts. After this last step, you may now reinstall the car door panel and experience a safe ride with your new car door lock.
