How to Disable Car Security

Whether your vehicle comes equipped with an active, passive or combination security system depends solely on the vehicle’s year, make and model. Taking the car to a dealership is the only way to disable a passive security system — like an ignition key equipped with an embedded chip. However, it only takes a few minutes to disable an active system — like a car alarm.
Things You’ll Need
Alarm key fob
Ignition key
Fuse puller
Instructions
1. Unlock the car by either using the alarm key fob or manually unlocking the door with the key. Once the car doors unlock, the alarm temporarily deactivates, allowing you to enter the vehicle.
2. Put the vehicle’s alarm in valet mode using the override option for the alarm. The alarm box — located beneath the dash — has either a red or black override button. Put the key in the ignition and turn it so the vehicle’s battery turns on, but the engine doesn’t turn over. Then, hold in the override button until the light on the dash remains lit and the alarm sounds once.
3. Locate the alarm fuse in the fuse box under the dashboard. Carefully, remove the fuse with a fuse puller and close the fuse box.
Tips & Warnings
Disabling the alarm on your vehicle results in compromised security and should only be done if absolutely necessary.
